The CaSB major consists of a methodology cordue east (7 courses: 27 units) and a concentration/track (min. v courses: 20 units). Effective 22W, all students admitted to the major will exist held to the new track curriculum. Students admitted to the major (non the pre-major) prior to 22W take the option to remain on the previous concentration curriculum.

Capstone Research

As part of the Capstone requirement, students are expected to consummate, at minimum, 2 quarters of research or similar internship project feel supervised past a UCLA faculty member while taking their Capstone courses. Students are advised, notwithstanding, to start early, ideally in their junior year. It is recommended that students complete at least a year (or more than) of research/project experience by the time they complete their second Capstone course. This helps ensure that students have sufficient material for their senior thesis. Delight see the following pages for additional information:

Major Methodology Core Form Planning

The Gateway and Capstone courses that are part of the Major Methodology Cadre are only offered in certain quarters and are designed to exist taken in a certain sequence. Students are advised to take C&South BIO M184 (Autumn), 185 (Wintertime), and M150 (Leap) in their 2nd or 3rd year. Students are brash to accept their ii Capstone courses during their 4th year, though a few students may accept them in their 3rd year. C&S BIO M187 is typically offered in Bound quarter.

When planning major coursework, students must be mindful of pre-requisites. Some courses required for the CaSB major and its concentrations have boosted pre-requisites that are non part of the CaSB major or pre-major curriculum.

Additionally, students must be mindful of when classes are offered (i.e., which quarters). CaSB compiles a tentative list of upper-division class offerings prior to each academic year. This list is tentative and subject to change past the departments offering each course. Students should cheque the Schedule of Classes or with respective departments for the near upward-to-date course offerings.

Other Important Data

All major courses must be taken for a letter grade, C or ameliorate, with the exception of C&Due south BIO/COM SCI/BIOENGR M184 which is only offered on a Pass/No Laissez passer basis.^
^CaSB made a temporary exception allowing pre-major courses taken between Spring 2020 and Summer 2021 to be taken for a Pass form. More details on this exception can be establish here.

Students must accept a minimum 2.0 GPA in upper-sectionalization major coursework to graduate.

Students who receive a C- or below in a major form must either repeat the form or petition to have the lower grade count for the major. More data on petitioning can be found here.

Students are subject to any requirement changes in the major until they are officially admitted to the major.
